Bambu Printers (X1C and P1S)
Machine Status: Currently in the UAF Makerspace
The Bambu printers are equipped with an AMS system which allows for multi-filament
printing.
The associated slicer is called as well as read more about these printers.
Note: TPU and CF Filaments are not compatible with the AMS.
Loading/Unloading Filament
With the AMS:
-
On the X1C touchscreen under the settings tab, select the AMS tab.
-
There are 4 AMS slots; click on the slot you want to unload and select Unload. Push the gray feeder tab on the AMS forward and the filament should come out easily.
-
Once the filament has been unloaded, remove the spool and replace it with your chosen filament.
-
Click the slot again and select Load. You will be prompted to feed the end of the filament into the feeder. Once you can see filament coming out of the print head, click Done.
Without the AMS:
-
First, disconnect the AMS tube. Find the blue and white coupler on the back of the printer. Pinch the coupler and remove the tube.
-
Place your filament spool on the spool holder on the back of the printer. Feed the end of the filament through the tube you just disconnected.
-
In the filament menu, select the fifth slot (outside of the AMS) and click Load.
-
Replace the AMS tube after unloading the filament.
Using the Slicer
Using Bambu Studio
-
Open Bambu studio. Select New Project and import your 3d object (Bambu Studio supports .3mf, .stl, .stp, .step, .amf, and .obj file types) using the cube with the + symbol.
-
Orient your object in the way you want it to print. Check the scale of the object and adjust it as needed.
-
Select your material; Bambu has pre-made settings for different filament types. Go through the settings to make sure that they are reasonable.
-
Once your print is prepared, click Slice Plate. You can now export your print. This can be done over a network, or using an SD card.
-
Over network: Open the devices tab to see printers. After slicing, click Print. From this menu, you can select which printer you want to send the print to.
-
SD card: After slicing, click export sliced plate file and select the SD card. Insert the SD card into the printer and print the project from files.
