IAB Programs
The Institute of Arctic Biology is home to research initiatives that reflect its unique ecological, cultural, and biomedical landscapes. Our programs range from wildlife ecology and forest dynamics to Indigenous health and metabolic science, and life at the extremes, and focus on a commitment to advancing knowledge through interdisciplinary collaboration and graduate training. These centers and networks, many of which are supported by federal agencies like the NIH and NSF, not only foster cutting-edge research but also strengthen educational infrastructure across Alaska’s universities. Together, the institute’s programs form a system of inquiry addressing both local and global challenges.
Boardwalks provide protection from overuse and a way to get around the Bonanza Creek LTER site.
