Applying for financial aid

Complete the FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will determine your eligibility for federal grants and loans, state grants and scholarships, and some private scholarships. The FAFSA should be submitted every year and is available Oct. 1 for the following fall. There is not a deadline for the FAFSA, but we recommend completing it before Feb. 15 to be considered for all UAF scholarships. The state of Alaska requires the FAFSA by June 30 for state aid, including the Alaska Performance Scholarship.

Submit a scholarship application

UAF offers over 450 scholarships. You can apply for all of these scholarships, known as Foundation Scholarships, by submitting a UAF scholarship application. The deadline to apply for most UAF scholarships is Feb. 15 for the following academic year.

Complete next steps to accept aid

After you submit your FAFSA, you'll receive an emailed financial aid offer with a summary of your financial aid package.

Once you’ve had a chance to review your offer, continue to the next steps to learn more about accepting different types of financial aid.
