Today’s reading features a classic summer pairing: a single, stealthy grass grain
hanging out with a tiny trio of Alternaria mold spores!

Grass (Poaceae): 5 (MODERATE) — Holding steady right in the moderate zone. Ever wonder why we just report "Grass" instead of specific varieties? Under a standard
microscope, grass pollen grains are virtually indistinguishable; they are all nearly
spherical with a single distinct pore. Identifying specific species requires high-tech
scanning electron microscopy to see subtle surface textures. Because these grasses
are highly cross-reactive, a single "Grass" count effectively captures the allergy
risk for the entire family, giving you the information you need to stay comfortable.
