Spring 2026 Film Production Auditions
The Anatomy of Sound
Now Casting for On-Camera Roles
The film will be produced by UAF Theatre and Film in February 2026. The screenplay is written and directed by Taylor Kamrath, winner of the PITCH FEST FLPA Production Prize, and will be filmed by the students of the Film Set Production classes on February 6-9 and 13-16, 2026.
Audition Details:
- Saturday, January 24, 2026
- 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Walk-ins welcome, first come-first served. is suggested & secures your time slot.)
- KUAC Film Studios, Fine Arts Complex, ϳԹ
- Check-in: Great Hall, prior to your audition
- No monologues are necessary. Actors will read from provided audition sides.
- Callbacks will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Individuals may be cast without attending callbacks.
PLEASE VERIFY YOUR AVAILABILITY AS YOU MUST BE IN TOWN FOR THE February 6-9 and 13-16 FILMING DATES TO ACCEPT ANY ROLE IN THIS PRODUCTION!
Auditions are free and open to anyone. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
What to bring with you:
- Loose, comfortable clothing that you can move around in
- 16 bars of music to sing a capella if auditioning for lead female roles or choir
- List of your recent theater or film credits (performance or technical)
- Your calendar of schedule conflicts for February 6-9 and 13-16, 2026
Casting Information
We are casting for 7 speaking roles, with additional roles for college-age extras, any gender (adults 18 and older). If you wish to audition for a speaking role, choose a 5-minute audition time slot using . If you are interested in being an extra, you do not need to audition but you should still supply a headshot and complete the audition form, choosing the role 'Extra’.
Singers are also encouraged to audition for speaking, choir or Extra roles.
Speaking roles:
Alice - (F, 20s) a quiet girl trying to express herself through music
Vivian - (F, 20s) a talented singer who takes her voice for granted (expect to sing a cappella during the audition)
Claire - (F, 40/50s) a mother worried for her recovering daughter
Professor Morgan - (M, 40/50s) a music professor with high standards
Quinn - (F, 20s) a choir member and friend of Vivian and Alice
Jonas - (M, 20s) a choir member and friend of Vivian and Alice
Henry - (M, 20s) a college student trying to make friends at a party
ϳԹ the Short Film
The short film “The Anatomy of Sound” is about a soft-spoken young woman who loses the use of her vocal cords. She learns to come to terms with the loss as she reflects on her complex relationship with sound.

There is a free film audition workshop before auditions begin, 10:00am – 11:30 am Saturday, January 24 in the KUAC TV studios. Get some advice on film acting. All are welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and check in at the Great Hall before the workshop.
