Nominations sought for UAF alumni awards

The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and the UAF Alumni Association are inviting nominations for the 2027 Distinguished Alumnus and William R. Cashen Service awards. As UAFAA prepares to kick off its centennial celebration in November, the association is expanding its recognition to highlight more members of the university community.

Established in 1962, the Distinguished Alumnus Award stands as UAF’s oldest and most prestigious recognition of alumni achievement. This award traditionally recognizes a single individual. For the centennial year, six alumni will be selected for meritorious service to UAF, exceptional professional achievements and outstanding community service. Nominations must be submitted by a UAF graduate and accompanied by three letters of recommendation from alumni.

The  William R. Cashen Service Award, named for the 1937 graduate, former alumni director and professor, recognizes extraordinary service to UAF and the alumni association. Two recipients will be selected this year. The award is open to both alumni and non-alumni.

A committee of alumni, past recipients and university staff will select the honorees. The deadline for all nomination materials is Friday, Nov. 27, 2026. Submissions can be completed online via the UAFAA website, with letters of support emailed to uaf-alumni@alaska.edu, or mailed to the UAF Alumni Association, P.O. Box 750126, Fairbanks, AK 99775-0126.
