Community forums: Air Force housing partnership

April 13, 2026

On Thursday, April 16, UAF will host two campus community discussions about a plan to house airmen from Eielson Air Force Base in two vacant residence halls:

  • 3-4 p.m., staff and faculty discussion in the Wood Center ballroom
  • 5-6 p.m., student forum in Hess Rec
  • Two options are also available for those who cannot attend in person via or on .

Details of the potential partnership are still in development. If finalized, UAF could provide year-round housing for up to 100 airmen in Stevens and Nerland Halls, which are currently unused. The potential agreement would help Eielson's housing shortage, offer service members greater access to college courses at UAF, and provide additional revenue to UAF. Hosts will share information about the partnership and answer questions from students and employees.
