The upcoming “Energy in the North” episode will feature Brian Hickey, general manager of Seward Electric Association, on how current Railbelt transmission may inhibit adding more large-scale renewable energy projects. The Railbelt powers 75% of the state along a 700-mile corridor from Homer to Fairbanks.
Arthur Miller, CEO of Chugach Electric Association, talks about finding a new energy source for Chugach as natural gas in Cook Inlet declines.
“Energy in the North,” hosted by ACEP’s Amanda Byrd, explores the importance and opportunities that energy and power provide to Alaska and its people.
The series airs weekly on — and also — on Wednesdays at 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Alaska time.
