Test your cyber skills at ACEP’s ‘Capture the Flag’ event

event flyerTeams will hack and defend digital systems during a half-day public event on July 25.

Individuals 18 years or older can participate, but space is limited and preregistration is required.

The event, dubbed “Capture the Flag,” will be hosted by the Alaska Center for Energy and Power as part of a new lab initiative that supports hands-on cybersecurity education.

This is a guided event, and no prior skills are required. All you need is a web browser, and laptops can be provided on request.

During the exercise, a “red” team will hack simulated systems while a “blue” team defends them, all in a safe and isolated virtual environment. While most challenges are web-based, the training ground also simulates real-world systems like the “internet of things” — smart home devices and connected sensors.
